MassHousing Awards $627,350 for Affordable Sober Housing to Support Men, Women, Families and Senior Citizens in Eight Communities

Our homes are smoke free but there are plenty of designated outdoor smoking areas. We are active from the local to the state level, continuously advocating for the rights of sober home residents and operators. Our MASH Certified (Massachusetts Authority of Sober Living) Recovery residences offer support, fellowship, and structure for men and women.

An application processing fee, which also covers the physical inspection, is also due upon application. Through community involvement, holistic wellness practices, and evidence-based therapies, we aim to help our residents build the foundation for a fulfilling and sustainable life in recovery. The Rise Against Addiction Scholarship is intended to offer financial assistance to men and women who are in recovery and are seeking to secure safe and reputable housing in a MASH Certified Sober Living Program. The St Paul-based organization exists to give a “unified voice for owners of sober houses in situations where a public voice became necessary.” It is a NARR affiliate. Grant funds will help support new resiliency and recovery support services, and job-readiness skills for women in recovery in Boston, Lynn and Springfield. As of October 4, we are temporarily pausing new applications to this scholarship program. Each guest can expect a clean bed, sufficient clothing storage, HDTV w/ cable and free wifi in every room inside a clean, well maintained home cared for by the guests who stay there!

We regularly inspect all member sober homes to ensure safety, quality, and the building of a community of recovery. Living in a sober environment helps you develop new habits and routines, taking what you learned during residential and outpatient rehab and applying it in your daily life. The time spent in a sober living home depends on a number of factors including strength of recovery, progress on clinical milestones set forth by your treatment plan, and the personal living situation at home. A minimum stay of three months is recommended, but many benefit from a longer stay to achieve long term recovery.

There is No Requirement to Get Your Sober Living Home Certified or Licensed in Minnesota

Minnesota can be an excellent place to open a sober living center (also known as a recovery residence) for operators who are just starting out in the “halfway house” space. Dismas House, Oakham, $125,000
Grant funding will help construct six new affordable housing units for families and individuals. Upon arriving at a sober-living house from rehab or detox, a woman can expect a safe and supportive mash sober housing environment that promotes long-term sobriety. The house managers will assist in helping her settle in and become familiar with the house rules and daily routine. She will receive help and support from those knowledgeable about addiction and recovery. Our team will guide you in developing healthy habits, setting goals, and addressing any challenges that may arise during the recovery process.

• Allston-Brighton Community Development Corporation, Boston, $75,000
  Grant funds will help create 14 new affordable sober housing units for individuals in advanced recovery in Allston.
• Our homes and their atmospheres are nurtured by the guests they provide for.
• The St Paul-based organization exists to give a “unified voice for owners of sober houses in situations where a public voice became necessary.” It is a NARR affiliate.
• The grants are typically used as one-time gap funding for capital projects that increase or improve the stock of affordable sober housing in Massachusetts.
• We strive to create a mutual respect and accountability culture where residents can feel comfortable and secure in their journey toward lasting recovery.
